The Battle of the Labyrinth

Title : The Battle of The Labyrinth (Percy Jackson And The Olympians #4)
Writer : Rick Riordan
Number of Page : 243
Ebook Publisher : Disney Book Group

Percy Jackson isn't expecting freshman orientation to be any fun. But when a mysterious mortal acquaintance appears on campus, followed by demon cheerleaders, things quickly move from bad to diabolical.

In this latest installment of the blockbuster series, time is running out as war between the Olympians and the evil Titan lord Kronos draws near. Even the safe haven of Camp Half-Blood grows more vulnerable by the minute as Kronos's army prepares to invade its once impenetrable borders. To stop them, Percy and his demigod friends must set out on a quest through the Labyrinth-a sprawling underground world with stunning surprises at every turn. Full of humor and heart-pounding action, this fourth book promises to be their most thrilling adventure yet.

In my opinion:
Percy went to a new school. He wished that nothing bad would happen on the first day. Unfortunately, demons disguised as cheerleaders cornered him in a room. Hell broke loose and Percy was chased by the teachers. With Rachel's help, he could get out. Well, I didn't expect to see Rachel here. I thought she was just unimportant character in the last book when she saved Percy from Luke's minions. But, she got crucial role here and she made Annabeth's jealousy burst out. Two girls for Percy, haha...

In this book, Annabeth had to lead a mission. She chose Percy, Grover, and Tyson to come with her to the labyrinth. I found the adventure quite interesting. They wandered around the ancient labyrinth built by Daedalus to stop Luke from attacking the Half-Blood camp. The labyrinth could lead people to anywhere they wanted and it would be very dangerous if Luke had the map. Only Daedalus had the map and Percy had to meet him before Luke.

I really liked the adventure. The labyrinth was like a puzzle, causing Percy and his friends keep getting lost inside it. They met several interesting beings and I could only say that Rick Riordan was very genious because he chose the little bits of Greek mythology and created unique scenes in his book. Calypso, Pan, and how to find the right way in the labyrinth... I just realized the real meaning of "pan" and "panic" were derived from Pan, God of the wild and I felt sad knowing the tragic life Calypso should face for eternity. Wow, just wow.

Kronos was resurrected completely at the end of this book. This would mean war between the Titans and the Olympians which I believed would occur on the last installment. Can't wait for reading the next book :)

My favorite character here was Nico, son of Hades. He was just so cool with his power controlling the dead. He seemed mysterious, dark, and dangerous with his black outfits. And maybe what made me loved this character was the fact that he was an outcast. Hades didn't have house in the Half-Blood Camp, so Nico didn't have place to stay there. Furthermore, he was so devastated losing his sister that he became a bitter and more mature person. Ah, I just loved tortured character . -.-
